LISTENING SECTION
In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English. There are four parts to this section, with specific directions for each part.

Part I. Pictures
Questions 1 to 3
Directions: For each item, there is a picture in your test sheet and four short statements about it on the tape. These statements will be spoken twice, but are NOT WRITTEN in your test paper, so you must listen carefully. You must choose one statement - (A), (B), (C), or (D) - that best describes the picture. Then, on your answer sheet, mark your choice.

Example:
Look at the picture and listen to the four statements.
A. The old man is singing.
B. The men are looking at the woman.
C. They are having a wedding ceremony.
D. The woman is wearing a modern costume.

Sample answer:
Choice (C) - “They are having a wedding ceremony,” - best describes what is seen in the picture. Therefore, you should mark (C) on your answer sheet.

Now let’s begin with picture number one.

C. She is wearing a short sleeve shirt.
D. She has something on her head.

2.
A. The man is repairing the washbasin pipe.
B. The man is fixing the faucet in the kitchen.

A. There’s a visitor who is stepping inside the stupa.
B. The biggest stupa is at the centre of the temple.
C. There are a lot of archways in the temple.
D. Buddhist statues are very big.

Part II. Questions – Responses
Questions 4 to 7

Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear several questions spoken in English, followed by four responses, also spoken in English. The question and responses will be spoken twice. They will not be printed in your test sheet, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying. You have to choose the best response to each question.

Now listen to a sample question:
You will hear;
Man: Good Morning Fani. how are you today?
Girl: ...
A. I live in Jakarta.
B. Oh, it’s really fun.
C. I am very well, thank you.
D. How is everything with you?

Choice (C) - “I am very well, thank you,” - is the appropriate response to the question “Good morning Fani, how are you today?” Therefore, you should mark (C) on your answer sheet. Now let’s begin with questions number four.

4. Woman: What do you think of your new English teacher?
A. She is very kind.
B. I think we must come to class on time.
C. My teacher lives close to school.
D. English is very challenging.

5. Man: I lost my car keys.
A. I bought a new car yesterday.
B. Just put the key on my table.
C. Why don’t you use the duplicate key?
D. No, it’s mine.

6. Woman: Is there anything I can do for you, Sir?
A. No, I can’t do it now.
B. I know nothing about it.
C. There are a lot of things to do this week.
D. Yes, I have a reservation under the name of Mr. Jack.

7. Woman: Tomorrow is the grand opening of my new restaurant, and I would like to invite you and your wife. Would you like to come, Sir?
A. Yes, 1 got his invitation.
B. My wife works at a restaurant.
C. Yes, that’s great, I will come on time.
D. My restaurant is located on Jalan Juanda.


Part III. Short Conversations
Questions 8 to 11

Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear several short conversations. You will hear the conversations twice. The conversations will not be printed in your test sheet, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying. In your test sheet, you will read a question about each conversation. The question will be followed by four answers. You must choose the best answer to each question, and mark it on your answer sheet.

Example
You will hear:
Man: The driver will meet you at the gate.
Woman: What kind of car will he be driving?
Man: He will be driving a large black limousine.

What will the woman do?
A. Meet the man at the gate. Sample answer:
B. Look for a specific car.
C. Wait at the door.
D. Drive a car.

Choice (B) “Look for a specific car,” is the best answer to the question “What will the woman do?” Therefore, you should mark (B) on your answer sheet.
Let’s begin with question number eight on your test paper.

Woman: I met your father at a local plant shop nearby yesterday. Does he like gardening?
Man: Yes. He goes there once a week to buy utensils, fertilizer, or a new plant to add his collection.
Woman: That’s cool! It will keep him happy. I guess that he has a great plant collection.
Man: You are absolutely correct. I always support whatever he does.

8. What are the speakers talking about?
A. Someone's job. 
B. Someone's hobby. 
C. Someone's collection.
D, Someone's happiness.

Man: I used to swim in the river when I was a child. It was very exciting.
Woman: Did you live close to the river at that time?

Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear two short talks. Each will be spoken twice, they will not be printed on your test paper, so you must listen carefully to understand and remember what is said. On your test paper, you will read two or more questions about each shot talk. Each question will be followed by four answers. You have to choose the best answer to each question and mark it on your answer sheet.

Let’s begin with the following short talk.

Questions 12 and 13 are based on the following announcement.

Good afternoon passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 89 B to Rome. We are now inviting those passengers with small children, and any passengers requiring special assistance, to begin boarding at this time. Please, have your boarding pass and identification ready.
